Hodgkins Elementary School HELP Program

What is H.E.L.P.?

In partnership with the Village of Hodgkins, Hodgkins School has initiated H.E.L.P. (Hodgkins Extended Learning Program). This school program is for students needing help with homework.

The program takes place in the classroom facility at the Hodgkins Police Department building on Lenzi Avenue. Students may attend four evenings per week between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Two certified teachers, school associate volunteers, police youth officers and peer tutors are available to assist students in understanding assignments and to get students started on homework. Helpers remain available during the two-hour session to assist students who may be experiencing difficulty with their assignments.

The program is for Hodgkins students in grades 3 through 8. The program also welcomes high school students from Hodgkins as tutors and they may also work on their own assignments during the session.

In addition to the original partners for learning - Hodgkins School, the Village of Hodgkins and the Hodgkins Police Department - the H.E.L.P. program is now supported by community businesses. Vulcan Materials Company, Republic Bank, UPS, Scheck Industries, Tara Industries, Laidlaw, LaGrange Crane and the Township Supervisor have joined H.E.L.P. to help educate Hodgkins students.
